HOW TO START A CARRIER AS A SAFETY OFFICER OR HSE OFFICER IN GULF COUNTRIES
For 10th passed,12th passed and fresh graduates it is always tough to decide that which profession is better to start their carrier.
Through this blog i will try to guide , how someone can start carrier as as HSE (health, safety and environment ) officer.
HSE is a good option to start carrier in which you can get approximate salary in the range of 3000 SAR to 5500 SAR (SAR = Saudi Arabian riyal which is equivalent to 3.75 USD and 19.93 INR ).
The first question in your mind will be

For HSE officer any 10th passed, 12th passed or graduate can get few short term certification like IOSH MS (3 day certification), NEBOSH HSW (10 days certification), NEBOSH IGC (10 days certification) any first aid certificate and one year diploma in occupational safety and health from any recognized institute.
The above mentioned certification IOSH MS, NEBOSH HSW or IGC are UK based certifications.
2. what is the roles and responsibility of HSE officer?
The basic role of safety office is to know the required HSE standard of the work and to make sure that HSE standard is followed to perform work at the work place to avoid any occurrence. Apart from that safety officer makes sure that toolbox talk has been conducted by construction Incharge.
Pre task briefing conducted.
Work permit is available before starting of activity.
All manpower is safety oriented.
Overall work place is safe to perform task.
Daily safety checklist is filled by HSE officer.
Daily unsafe act and unsafe condition observation sheet is submitted by HSE officer.
Brief incident report is summited by HSE officer.
3.Which type of information you should gain?
HSE officer must know the required HSE standard for each work at the workplace as per client standard or OSHA standard or local govt. standard if applicable.
example Saudi Aramco has its own standard GI and construction safety manual , ADNOC has its own standard in Abu Dhabi. SABIC, royal commission , Saudi electricity company, Qatar petroleum, Kuwait petroleum are few major clients in GCC which has their safety standards which must be followed during each activity.

4.Where you can get practical knowledge about work?
For practical knowledge you can visit any construction site as a trainee or YouTube search is best option for gaining offline activity wise information like rigging safety, crane safety, scaffold safety, excavation safety, hazardous gasses safety, confined space safety, fire safety, concrete pouring safety, work at Hight safety etc.
5.Where you can get vacancies for HSE job in GCC?
There are various manpower consultancies in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata ,Chennai , Hyderabad etc. where you can find safety officer vacancies for gulf countries , African countries , rusia etc. assignment abroad is a news paper published from Mumbai in which someone can find current vacancies and related manpower consultancies.
6. What will be the expanses for visa processing and other formalities?
approx. 30000 to 50000 INR is charged by the consultancies for their service charge which includes flight ticket , visa endorsement charge and service fee for consultancies. medical diagnostic charge is 5000 INR. there are also some free recruitments in which recruiting company bears all expanses.
